As part of our ongoing Gaskill Coffee Time series, neighbors gathered on February 1st for a relaxed and welcoming get-together, generously hosted by Mag.
It was one of those easy, feel-good neighborhood mornings: people chatting in small groups under the trees, kids wandering around and playing together, babies being passed from lap to lap, and plenty of coffee, snacks, and good conversation going around. The garden and deck filled up quickly with a mix of familiar faces and new neighbors, and the whole space had that warm, unhurried, “this is why community matters” energy.
Gaskill Coffee Time is part of the work of the Gaskill Neighbors Association to strengthen connections across the neighborhood through simple, regular gatherings—alongside clean-ups, beautification projects, and ongoing work with the City of Oakland to address safety concerns and advocate for residents’ needs.
The turnout and vibe on February 1st were a great reminder of how much our neighborhood values showing up for each other. We’ll keep rotating these gatherings across different blocks so all of Gaskill can take part. The next Gaskill Coffee Time will be on March 1st at 10:00 AM, and we’ll be gathering here.
Together, we’re building a stronger, more connected Gaskill—one block at a time. 🌿
